Shannon Guglielmo

on this planet i only know one person

she’s apotropaic and wonderful

her mellifluous sounds of song and speak fill my dreams and waking

i need her warmth

the smell of milk skin sweat tears body

when she leaves me

on my own the glow fades out of focus. i thrash

capricious moments of hunger cheeks florid

i’m covered in cloth

air on skin feels cold

primal startle reflex

solipsism

i wish i were back to inhabit my old splosh-sphere home

i yearn for darkness rolling movement beats

since my denouement exit the light is strong

weltschmerz floods my flesh and no tears come

just the stretch of lip and gum until my face is red

my knuckles balled and my lungs accordion

i just keep siphoning air and air and air

screaming for days to make sure the world knows i am alive
